Great first meeting!

Hey Lions! I love the rules you all came up with together for our den. Y’all did a great job!

Parents, if you are interested in attending the Mom & Me council campout, follow this link for more information and registration: East Texas Area Council – 2024 Junell Smith Nichols Mom & Me (scoutingevent.com) The cost is $45/person, which includes meals and a t-shirt for each attendee. We love our “Dragon” scouts (younger siblings we “drag” to meetings and pack campouts); however, this event is only for Cub Scout aged kids and parents. Dads are more than welcome to attend.

A reminder of “homework” before our next meeting:

  1. If you do not already have one, go by the Scout Shop on 5th street across from TJC to get a Lion handbook.
  2. Parents, read the pamphlet inside titled “How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide”, and work through the activities in the back with your scout.
  3. Also work through the Bobcat pages at the front of the Lion handbook with your scout. This will complete their Bobcat adventure, and they will earn their first beltloop!
  4. Fill out health forms A & B for your scout and any family member attending meetings/events
  5. Complete your Youth Protection Training and bring a copy of your certificate to the next meeting along with health forms. We will need those ASAP! (You will need these for Mom & Me if you plan to attend. Bring them with you to check-in on Oct. 5th.)

We will NOT be meeting next week. Our next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 7th. Please read through the adventures in the handbook and decide on one you would like to run for our group. I will send out a signup genius with meeting dates and adventures, as well as one for snacks.

Hope y’all have a fantastic week!

-Nicole
